Making Your Summer Sizzle

The Summer brings opportunity for fresh ways to love our spouses! Our rhythms are different in the summer, and it is a great time to purposefully plan a little more love and romance!

The Bible has The Song of Songs. This book of the Bible explores the beauty of love. And as all scripture is God-breathed, it is a great place to start if we want to up our romance game this summer.

In 2:10 it says - My beloved spoke and said to me, “Arise, my darling,    my beautiful one, come with me.”

Planning a get-away, or just an extra special experience is a great way for either spouse to begin allowing the themes - Love & Desire, Intimacy & Connection, Loyalty & Commitment, Beauty & Sexuality, and the Spiritual Significance – of this biblical book to influence your marriage.

Love & Desire can be expressed in many creative individual ways. Think back to how you attracted each other in the beginning, and how you can communicate your love & desire are still very much for your spouse?

Intimacy & Connection is the deep bond of knowing and being known that you have with each other. What are some ways you can celebrate this and take it deeper?

Loyalty & Commitment is the security, importance, and safety we place on this one and only relationship. How can you communicate to each other how your spouse’s faithfulness impacts you?

Beauty & Sexuality is the scared expression of intimacy, as God designed it. How can you make plans to light this fire and celebrate the gift that only exists between you two?

Spiritual Significance is found in all the ways we invite the Holy Spirit of God into our relationship. Take time to explore how God is involved in your love & desire for one another. How does He make your intimacy & connection more meaningful? How does God’s involvement in the covenant bond of your loyalty & commitment to each other make it unbreakable and joyful? Bring God to the forefront of you marriage by praying with and for each other every day.
